DULUTH, MN – IKONICS Corporation (NASDAQ:IKNX), a Duluth-based imaging technology company has been named a finalist for the Advanced Manufacturing Tekne award for its Digital Texturing (DTX) technology. DTX combines the company’s expertise in ultraviolet (UV) photo-reactive chemistry and industrial inkjet printing to create a revolutionary system for creating textures on a variety surfaces. The patented DTX system increases productivity and substantially lowers costs for much of the texturing industry. It is currently in use by the North America auto industry, and Ikonics recently announced a distribution agreement with Kurabo Industries of Osaka for the Japanese market.
Bill Ulland, Ikonics CEO, said that he was very gratified by this recognition from the Minnesota High Tech Association. “DTX is transforming Ikonics into a Minnesota-based supplier of game changing technology to a world-wide industrial market, while simultaneously giving our customers new levels of efficiency and quality,” Ulland said. “Credit goes to the Ikonics team members who developed the unique fluids, transfer films and custom printers that are the DTX system.”
